Sitemeter For Your Blog

March 1, 2007

Do you currently have a blog but really have no idea who is visiting your site? Why not consider installing Sitemeter onto your blog?

Sitemeter is a great, free service that you sign up for and then install onto your blog (generally by copying and pasting a bit of code to the pages on your blog that you want to track).

Once installed, it can provide you with:

  • Visitor count
  • Referrer information
  • Where your visitor clicked away from your page
  • Entry and exit page information

The great part about it is that it also allows you to customize what it looks like when on your blog. You can choose a variety of options such as hidden statistics (only available to you) or public statistics (available to all).

The way that I use Sitemeter with a few of my current clients is using it to pull information for them about their visitors. By analyzing the data, I can let the client know what keywords were being searched on to get them to their blog, which pages are the most popular entry pages as well as a total count of visitors per month or per day.

You should be tracking statistics in some way for your blog or website so that you can continue to make adjustments and improvements and increase the number of visitors you get to your site.
